According to police, Mr Newell was in possession of a Glock-branded gel blaster, which is classified as an illegal firearm in NSW.

Police claim the 22-year-old then fired the weapon in the direction of a female neighbour in such a way that it could have caused her harm and damaged the house.

Documents tendered to the court state the young man has previously been convicted of violent offences, including a recent conviction for a domestic violence offence.

On Wednesday, Picton court heard Mr Newell had entered written pleas of not guilty to all three charges laid against him.

He will appear in Picton court on October 7 to fight the charges in a hearing.
