A man has pleaded guilty to high-range drink-driving in the Southern Tablelands while on probation for punching a former partner in the head and causing pain and bruising to her eye.

Nathan Langdon, 32, appeared at Goulburn Local Court last Wednesday for four charges including a high range PCA, driving while suspended, and using an unregistered and uninsured motor vehicle.

According to the documents tendered to the court, on May 27 the Goulburn man told police he drank 20 full strength stubbies of Carlton Dry at Gordon Hotel, which he finished at 9.30pm.

Then on the same day at almost 12am, documents state he was stopped by police in his grey Holden Cruze on the cross section of Long Street and Lawford Lane, because they noticed his registration had expired in March.

They asked for his license, which he said he didn’t have on him, and after a roadside breath-test reading of 0.221, he was placed under arrest at Goulburn Police Station for a breath analysis.

Documents state his secondary reading was 0.187.

Further checks by police revealed his license was suspended from a fine, and not current and active like Langdon had earlier suggested. When they brought this up with him at the station, he confessed to the truth.

According to documents, the hatchback he had driven was also unregistered for more than 15 days and police returned the plates to Service NSW.

He was then charged for the matters before the court.

Magistrate Geraldine Beattie called the offences “very serious” and pointed out he committed them while on probation for domestic violence charges.

“I note you’re subject to two domestic violence orders and they need to be called up because you’ve breached them by doing this,” Magistrate Beattie said.

Langdon was sentenced to a 15 month community corrections order on November 9 2021 at Goulburn Local Court to common assault and assault occasioning bodily harm, and is on probation for those matters until February 8 2023.

Magistrate Beattie adjourned his current matter to August 17 for sentence.
