A 39-year-old woman has been charged with driving five times over the legal alcohol limit with a child in the car.
At about 10.30am on Thursday, emergency services were called to the Hume Highway near the intersection of Belanglo Road, Sutton Forest, after reports that a Hyundai hatchback had driven off the roadway and into a ditch.
The woman and four-year-old child in the car were left uninjured and were assisted by witnesses before officers attached to the Hume Police District attended the scene.
Police performed a roadside breath test on the 39-year-old, which returned a positive result, and she was arrested and taken to the Southern Highlands Police Station for a secondary breath analysis.
The alleged reading on the secondary breath test showed 0.292 – which is five times over the legal limit.
She was charged with a high-range PCA and her licence was suspended.
The woman was granted conditional bail and will appear at Moss Vale Local Court on August 9.
