A convicted paedophile has admitted to possessing more than 250 images of child sex abuse material in the Southern Highlands.

A convicted paedophile has admitted to possessing more than 250 images of child sex abuse material in the Southern Highlands.

Stephen Raymond Vickery, 70, appeared in Moss Vale Court via audiovisual link on Monday after pleading guilty to possessing a large stash of child sex abuse material and three counts of failing to comply with his requirement to report to police.

Police allege the Bowral resident had 251 child abuse images in his possession on the afternoon of September 28.

The court documents show the child abuse images were classified as category one on the Interpol baseline scale, which means they depict a real child under 13 either involved in or witnessing a sexual act, or the image focuses on their genitals.

The court documents show Vickery was busted by police on the same afternoon for three counts of not complying with his reporting obligations under the Child Protection Act.

Police allege he failed to disclose his mobile phone number and two email addresses, despite being required to inform police about his contact details.

Vickery is required to report to police regularly because of a previous conviction for child sex abuse offences, which resulted in his name being entered on the Child Sex Offenders Register.

On Monday, the court heard Vickey will proceed to Goulburn District Court next month after pleading guilty to all charges.

The court heard the charges of failing to report to police will be taken into consideration when sentencing Vickery for the possession of the large collection of child sex abuse material.

Vickery will appear in Goulburn District Court on March 21 to set a date for sentencing.
