Two men dead after horror head-on crash on Great Western Highway at Linden

Two men have died and two other people have been rushed to hospital following a horrific head-on crash in the Blue Mountains.

Two men are dead and two other people have been rushed to hospital following a horror head-on crash on the Great Western Highway.

Emergency services were called to the highway at Linden, in the Blue Mountains, about 5.20pm on Wednesday.

A police statement said officers arrived to find a Toyota Camry and a Polestar vehicle had collided head on.

Two men – the Toyota driver and a rear occupant of the Polestar – died at the scene.

They were yet to be formally identified on Wednesday night.

The driver and front occupant of the Polestar were treated at the scene by paramedics before being taken to hospital.

A crime scene was established and investigations have begun into the circumstances of the crash.

The Great Western Highway was closed in both directions at Linden on Wednesday night and diversions were in place.

Motorists have been urged to avoid the area.
