Blacktown High Schools: Cheapest private schools revealed

A private school education can be a substantial expense, but not all western Sydney private high schools are as costly as you might think.
Futurity Investment Group recently released data which revealed Sydney is the most expensive city for independent schooling in Australia, with a staggering $448,000 estimated cost over the course of a child’s education.
Even the most expensive in the Blacktown region comes nowhere near that amount.
The priciest private high school in the area is Tyndale Christian School.
A local Islamic College is the cheapest, costly less than $2,000 a year in the lower grades.
Of the seven schools listed below, five have their fees listed as all inclusive.
There are two which just have the tuition cost, Tyndale Christian School and Mountain View Adventist College. As a result the overall cost could end up being higher than stated.

Tyndale Christian School
Tuition fees per annum:
Year 7- $7,330

Tyndale Secondary School is the dearest of the private high schools in the Blacktown area. School leaders say their focus is on providing an environment in which students in these crucial years of schooling have the best opportunity to grow as learners as part of a secure, nurturing Christian community.
Tyndale Christian School is located in Blacktown and its principal Rebecca Halls said they are different to other local private schools as their governance is made by a board of volunteers.
“As one of the very few genuinely independent schools in Blacktown, Tyndale is ‘parent controlled’, meaning that our school’s governance which includes decisions on fee structure is carried out by a board of volunteer directors,” she said.
“The majority of these association members are Blacktown residents and include a number of parents.
“Accessibility for families irrespective of their circumstances is important to us and with provisions including generous discounts for second and subsequent children, as well as fee subsidies based on individual situations, we believe our track record in supporting families in Blacktown is second to none.
“Education is indeed an investment and as a true independent school, Tyndale offers additional benefits across a range of areas that parents look for when considering an education for their child.
“Ultimately though the greatest benefit comes from choice and the diversity in quality educational options with which Australian children are blessed.”
Tyndale’s tuition fees range between $7,330 for a first child in Year 7, up to $8,130 for a first child in Year 12. They offer discounts for additional children, with tuition fees halving for each additional child enrolled in the school and with no tuition fees for a fourth child from the same family enrolled.
Patrician Brothers College
All inclusive fees per annum:
Year 7- $4,815
Year 12- $5,847
Patrician Brothers’ College is a Roman Catholic single-sex secondary school for boys, which is located in Blacktown.
The annual fees of Roman Catholic high schools in the Blacktown area range from $4,000 to $6,000 per student.
A spokesman for Catholic Education, Diocese of Parramatta, said: “As a system of 80 low-fee paying Catholic schools, our longstanding principle is that no child will be disadvantaged because of a family‘s financial circumstances.
“We’re committed to affordability and our modest fees make sure that a high-quality Catholic education is within reach for local families.
“Any family experiencing hardship is encouraged to seek support by contacting their school principal for a confidential conversation about how we can support them in accessing a Catholic education for their child.”
Tuition fees for a first child in Year 7 comes in at just over $2,000.
With the included resource fee, activity fee, overnight excursion and meal fees, the total cost for a first child in Year 7 is $4,815.
The Patrician Brothers website states its “Catholic community strongly believes in and demonstrates the Gospel values of faith, justice, tolerance, hope, honesty, service, trust, forgiveness and respect. Our community also values the Patrician ideal of friendliness and love of all creation, especially the poor.”
St Andrews College
All inclusive fees per annum:
Year 7- $4,745
Year 12- $4,974
St Andrews College is a dual-campus independent Roman Catholic coeducational secondary school, located in Marayong. Its fees are all inclusive, coming to $4,745 for a first child in Year 7.
St Andrews declares it is “committed to a personalised, relevant and meaningful learning experience for every student. With a strong record of academic, sporting and cultural achievement, students are presented with a range of learning options tailored to their abilities and needs.”
Nagle College
All inclusive fees per annum:
Year 7- $4,728
Year 12- $5,769
Nagle College is a single-sex Catholic school for girls in Years 7-12 which is located in Blacktown.
Nagle College fees are comparable to other private Catholic secondary schools in the area with an all inclusive cost of $4,728 for a first child in Year 7.
Nagle College Principal, Delma Horan said, “Each member is encouraged to be a lifelong learner.
“We believe each of us has the capacity to learn; and parents, students and staff work together to achieve learning outcomes for all students.”
“Learning at Nagle College is personalised, contemporary and challenging. We offer a diversity of subjects, co-curricular activities and learning support programs. We don‘t just talk about quality learning and teaching, we deliver it.”
Mountain View Adventist College
Tuition fees per annum:
Year 7- $4,620
Year 12- $4,620
Mountain View Adventist College is an independent Seventh-day Adventist coeducational primary and secondary day school, located in Doonside.
The College is part of the Seventh-day Adventist education system, the world‘s second largest Christian school system.
Its fees are $4,620 for tuition alone for a first child in Year 7. There are additional fees such as activity fees, IT fees and bus fees.
Its website states that “Mountain View Adventist College offers your child a superior educational opportunity that builds on a strong foundation in key learning areas. We challenge each student to discover his/her particular gifts and talents and believe that each child is special. We provide a nurturing and caring learning environment where Christian values are upheld.”
St Agnes Catholic High School
All inclusive fees per annum:
Year 7- $4,101
Year 12- $4,674
St Agnes Catholic High School is an independent Roman Catholic coeducational secondary day school, located in Rooty Hill.
Its fees are slightly cheaper with all inclusive fees for a first child in Year 7 being $4,101.
Principal Lisa-Maree Browning said: “We have a focus on teaching and learning in the 21st Century through contemporary practice and the integration of technology in all our lessons.
“We are a multicultural school with students and staff who treat each other with respect and value integrity.”
Australian Islamic College of Sydney
All inclusive fees per annum:
Year 7-8= $1,800
Year 9-12- $2,200
The Australian Islamic College of Sydney’s Mount Druitt campus is by far the cheapest private school in the Blacktown area.
The fees for a first child in Year 7 are just $1,800, more than half the price of the second cheapest private school in the area.
The Australian Islamic College of Sydney website states that “students are taught the Islamic values” through the “implementation of a strong Islamic Studies curriculum throughout all the year levels”.
It adds: “Students are taught to respect and value what is stated in the Qu’ran and to aim for the inspirational conduct of the Holy Prophet in all that they do and achieve.”
Their website also states, “The Australian Islamic College of Sydney values providing students with the opportunities to enable them to reach their highest possible level of academic, social and cultural attainment so that they become well-educated, responsible and religious citizens capable of contributing positively to the development and betterment of their own community, the nation and the world as a whole.”
