Westpoint Blacktown will completely reopen its carpark next week after more than a year of repair work.
The carpark will return to normal next Wednesday, October 30, when the final stage of the closed carpark is reopened to shoppers.
The news comes after substantial sections of the carpark reopened two months ago, a year after structural issues forced the centre to close more than half its carpark.
The reopening of the 2500 car spaces is expected to come as a relief to shoppers and retailers as the centre gears up for its busy Christmas trade.
Centre manager Agata Rynkiewicz said staff parking would return along with the reopening of the remaining Alpha St exit.
“We are thrilled to announce that we are now just one week away from reopening the final stage of the Westpoint car park,” Ms Rynkiewicz said.
“The total reopening of the Westpoint car park, which follows the reopening of the first stage in September and the return of staff parking this week, is a momentous milestone for the centre and we are excited to be able to get back to business as usual in time for our busy Christmas season.”
Ms Rynkiewicz said the structural issues that led to the closure had been rectified.
The reopened carpark will come with a refreshed look, including a new coat of paint and lighting.
“We would once again like to take this opportunity to express our sincere thanks to our Westpoint community for their patience and understanding during this unexpected closure, our community’s willingness to shop locally during these past 12 months has made all the difference to us and our retailers,” she said.
The centre closed more than half its carpark in August 2018 after it was discovered some columns in the original Westpoint carpark were not providing the required support.
To celebrate the reopening, the centre is giving away eight cars over eight weeks in one of Australia’s biggest shopping centre giveaways.
Shoppers have the chance to win one of eight new Toyotas until November 3.

“There have been some very deserving recipients, and with a new chance to win every week, we look forward to drawing the remaining lucky winners during the final weeks of the competition, due to end on November 4,” Ms Rynkiewicz said.
