Teens assaulted in Doonside hammer attack, police call for witnesses

Police are calling for witnesses after armed men assaulted a group of teens in Doonside on Tuesday afternoon.

Police are investigating after a group of teenagers was attacked with a hammer at Doonside on Tuesday.

Police said the students were walking towards Doonside Station at the intersection of Kildare Road at about 3.30pm on March 19 when four men got our of a car and approached them.

Officers have been told the men, who were armed with a hammer and a baseball bat, assaulted an 18-year-old man and then struck a 16-year-old boy in the head with a hammer after he tried to intervene.

Some of the students fled, including the older teen who was attacked by three of the men with a hammer again before he got on a train and left.

Police say the armed men returned to their car and fled.

The 16-year-old boy was taken to Westmead Hospital and was later released.

Blacktown Police are investigating the incident and are urging any witnesses or anyone with information to contact police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
