POSITIVITY and passion are what Monique Clifton has in spades, so it’s no wonder the netballer is already reaching great heights.
The multi-talented athlete also plays basketball and Oztag to keep learning new skills to help in her netball.
“Netball brings me so much joy, the game is just so thrilling and fun,” Monique, 15, said.
“Netball has always been my favourite sport, by far.”
Monique’s sporting achievements reflect her passion for the game.
She was recently awarded a scholarship with the Western Sydney Sports Academy. She has been playing for Blacktown Association in the night interdistrict competition at Netball Central and has received the coaches award for the past two years for Hawkesbury representative netball 14s and 15s.
Monique umpired in the opens CHS school competition for her school The Hills Sports High at Seven Hills and received her national C badge for umpiring. She also represented her school in the 15s CHS school competition. The versatile player can play centre, wing and goal slots.
Monique has also played for Norwest Oztag from 2014, and representative basketball for the Hawkesbury Jets this year. She also represented Sydney West in cross-country this year.
Monique says the most rewarding part of being an athlete is setting goals and working hard at them.
“It gets hard at times when you get so tired but when you reach the goal it’s the best feeling in the world, I can’t describe how satisfying it is,” she said.
