Seven Hills: 561 cannabis plants allegedly found in two homes

A man will face court after a police raid on two homes allegedly uncovered more than $2m of cannabis plants.

A man has been charged and will face court after 561 cannabis plants with an estimated potential street value of more than $2 million were allegedly seized from two homes in Sydney’s west.

Officers attached to Penrith Regional Enforcement Squad established Strike Force Cansa in May to investigate the cultivation and supply of cannabis across Sydney’s north west.

Since then police have allegedly found two neighbouring homes on Third Ave at Seven Hills which allegedly contain hydroponic setups.

Police executed search warrants at both homes on Wednesday where they allegedly seized 561 cannabis plants.

The quantity of cannabis holds an estimated street value of more than $2 million.

A 39-year-old man was leaving one of the homes when he was arrested by police and taken to Blacktown Police Station.

He was charged with two counts of cultivate prohibited plant greater than large commercial quantity - cannabis, and two counts of use, consume, waste electricity without authority.

The man has been refused bail and will face Blacktown Local Court on Thursday.
