The number of COVID-19 cases has surpassed triple figures in the Blacktown region, but the curve does appear to be flattening.

As of April 19, there were 106 confirmed coronavirus cases in the Blacktown Local Government Area, with up to 30 of these linked to a single local cluster.

According to NSW Health, investigations into a cluster of cases at Blacktown’s Rose of Sharon Childcare Centre continue after the centre recorded between 21 and 30 cases of the deadly virus.

The Blacktown LGA remains an identified ‘hotspot’ for the virus, but the region could be turning the corner, with only eight fresh cases confirmed locally since April 8.

The number of locally-acquired cases has dropped from 14 to 13 in the past week.

Last week, Blacktown City was prioritised for increased testing due to the area having a small number of community transmissions without an identifiable source.

The region’s first drive-through testing service opened at Riverstone Family Medical Practice on Monday.

Health authorities are urging anyone with COVID-19 symptoms, including a fever, cough, sore throat or shortness of breath, who lives or works in the area, to contact their GP to see if they should get tested.

The Blacktown LGA has the sixth-highest number of confirmed COVID-19 cases across the state, behind Waverley, Sydney and the Northern Beaches.

The worst hit suburbs include Blacktown, Marayong, Kings Park, Prospect, Huntingwood and Arndell Park. These suburbs, which fall under the 2148 postcode, have 29 confirmed cases.

The 2763 postcode, covering Quakers Hill and Acacia Gardens, is the second worst hit area locally, with 16 COVID-19 cases.

A full breakdown of local cases by postcode can be found below.
