Aussie Joey Gibbs makes big impression at Icelandic team Keflavik
You don’t often hear about an Aussie ripping it up in Iceland but that’s exactly what this well-travelled footballer has been doing.

A former A-League striker from Gosford has made a big impression thousands of kilometres from where he used to ply his trade and it’s not the usual location you expect to see Australian athletes excelling.
But Joey Gibbs has been doing just that in Iceland.

Gibbs, a former A-League player, headed overseas earlier this year after playing five years with Blacktown City in the NSW NPL.
The Sydney player signed a one-year deal with top Icelandic team Keflavik, one of the oldest and best known clubs in Iceland with history involving and have European Cup and UEAF Cup history.

Gibbs has now been named Player of the Year in the Icelandic second division and has extended his contract with the club until 2022.
The Central Coast born and bred footballer is now on his way back to Australia after a number of his earlier flights home were cancelled.

Gibbs made his A-League debut back in 2010 with Sydney FC.
He also had a spell at the Western Sydney Wanderers, where he scored two goals during the 2012/13 season, Newcastle Jets, Manly United, APIA Leichhardt, the Marconi Stallions and Tai Po in Hong Kong.
