Plans for what will be the second tallest building in Blacktown have been revealed.
Global operator Quest Apartment Hotels has announced a new hotel in the CBD, in what is being called a significant private sector investment into Blacktown’s infrastructure.
Construction of the 23-storey mixed-use development is underway with Quest Apartment Hotel securing the top 11 floors of the $30m building by Gitane Living.
The four star Quest Apartment Hotel will have 82 rooms consisting of a variety of studio and multi-bedroom apartments, each featuring self-contained internal facilities including kitchen and laundry equipment.
James Shields, from Quest, said the development comes at the right time as Blacktown continues to enjoy strong economic advancement with the population expected to exceed that of Tasmania in the next 10 years.
“Blacktown Local Government Area is currently home to over 23,000 local businesses and is poised for considerable growth in the coming years, with a number of major infrastructure, productivity, and liveability projects underway,” he said.
“Blacktown City Council has adopted a balanced budget of $656 million for the 2021/22 financial year, including a major capital works program of more than $150 million.
“Traditionally underpinned by industrial employment in manufacturing and wholesale trade sectors, the Blacktown area is transitioning, and we anticipate that the demand for quality corporate travel accommodation in the area will continue to increase.
“It’s understood there will be an increase in knowledge-intensive and population-serving jobs, especially in the health and education sectors, and Quest will be well placed to sustain the long and short stay travel requirements emerging.”
Blacktown Council Mayor Tony Bleasdale echoed the same sentiment, adding: “Quest Blacktown is part of $600 million worth of development that’s currently underway or planned for area just to the north of Blacktown railway station.
“Council welcomes Quest Blacktown to our CBD as part of our commitment to transform Blacktown into a modern, vibrant city where people can live, work, gain the highest education and relax in a sustainable environment.”
The basement levels of the complex are now complete with Quest Hotel Blacktown set to open in the first half of 2023. The 23-storey development will be located at 26 Second Avenue, Blacktown.
