Police allege Jaison Gene Green, 47, caused a nine-vehicle crash on the highway at Prospect, in Sydney’s west, on December 2, 2022.

NSW Police said one of those people, a 64-year-old man, subsequently died.

Green was, meanwhile, taken to Blacktown Hospital for mandatory testing.

Almost two years later, on Monday, police attended Silverwater jail and issued Green with a court attendance notice for four alleged offences.

Green has been charged over the crash with dangerous driving occasioning death and dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm.

According to court documents, both of those charges allege he drove under the influence of amphetamine and methylamphetamine.

He also faces charges of negligent driving occasioning death and negligent driving occasioning grievous bodily harm.

His licence has been suspended.

Green did not apply for bail or enter pleas when he faced Blacktown Local Court via video link on Tuesday.

Magistrate Deb Maher remanded him in custody to face Penrith Local Court on November 15, ordering that a brief of evidence be arranged ahead of that day.
