Parklea jail brawl: Luke Close, Joel Anthony, Laeton Humone charged

Twelve inmates at Sydney’s Parklea Jail have been charged after a bloody brawl left a guard injured.

A dozen inmates have been charged over a brawl at a Sydney jail that left at least one prison guard injured.

Police say the brawl erupted at Parklea jail on November 22 last year, sometime after 1pm.

A correctives officer was injured and 12 men have been charged over the alleged involvement in the scuffle.

Inmates Luke Close, Joel Mark Anthony, Vincent Cusamano, Laeton Humone, Fale Faasavalu, Sione Ika, Pavel Perez and Javen Oneill are among those charged with affray.

Lawyers for the accused appeared at Blacktown Local Court, where the case was briefly mentioned on Thursday.

Close, who is among those charged, has since been transferred to Cessnock jail. He faces charges of affray and assaulting a law enforcement officer causing actual bodily harm.

Police allege the men threatened violence towards other inmates and correctives officers at the jail.

The men will face court again in April.
