An elderly woman has escaped injury after a high-speed police chase ended with a car smashing into her Emerton home.

Driver Michael John Andrews, 29, of Bidwill, was hit with a string of charges after he led police on a chase from Lethbridge Park to Llandilo and back to Emerton just before 8.30pm on Tuesday night.

Andrews, who was wanted on two police warrants at the time, was first spotted by police driving a Holden Commodore on Luxford Rd while overtaking cars at speed.

When officers attempted to pull him over, Andrews accelerated away, weaving in between oncoming traffic before crashing into another vehicle.

Despite the crash, Andrews continued driving, leading police further west to Jordan Springs and Llandilo, where he was clocked travelling at 120km/h in an 80km/h zone.

As Andrews drove into a roundabout at Popondetta Rd and Woodstock Ave in Emerton, he lost control of the car, before crashing into a parked Mercedes van and the front of a house on Arundell St.

Causing significant damage to the house, Andrews fled the scene and was arrested by police as he tried to hide in nearby bushes in Wyanda Reserve.

A 75-year-old woman, who was inside the house at the time, was not hurt, but was taken to hospital and treated for shock.

Facing Mt Druitt Local Court on Wednesday, Andrews pleaded guilty to a string of charges, including police pursuit, driving dangerously, not giving particulars to another driver and the owner of damaged property and driving with a cancelled licence.

He also admitted to having two stolen bank cards in his possession.

The court heard Andrews was on parole after being sentenced to four years’ jail in 2017.

He did not apply for bail and will return to court for sentencing on December 2.
