More than 100 jobs will be created after plans to build Rooty Hill’s first McDonald’s were given the green light.
Blacktown Council has approved the construction of a 24-hour McDonald’s restaurant on Eastern Rd within Western Sydney Parklands across from the Blacktown International Sports Park.
Planning documents show the restaurant will accommodate more than 100 patrons across indoor and outdoor dining areas, with a McCafe, party room, outdoor play area and car parking.
McDonald’s Australia’s assistant development manager Tom Ugarkovic said the restaurant would open within the next 12 months and provide dozens of job opportunities.
“It will be a state-of-the-art restaurant, with something for everyone — a Playland for the kids, quality barista-made coffee from McCafe available in restaurant and in Drive-Thru and, of course, our world famous burgers and fries,” Mr Ugarkovic said.
“The restaurant will also provide over 100 new employment opportunities to the local community.”
The restaurant will operate 24-hours a day, seven days a week, and will be the first to open in Rooty Hill.
Currently, the closest McDonald’s restaurants to Rooty Hill are in Mt Druitt and Minchinbury.
Documents from the Blacktown Local Planning Panel declared the restaurant to be in the public interest and said it would encourage use of the Parklands and surrounding sports precinct by catering to visitors’ needs.
