A Mt Druitt man who accelerated past a police car in a Toyota Yaris, reaching speeds up to 190km/h on the M4 Motorway before producing a fake licence has been sentenced.

Mateen Haider, 22, was stopped by police on the M4 Motorway near Reservoir Rd, Blacktown about 10am on September 14.

When police spoke to Haider he handed across a licence under the name Umair Ahmad, which police checks revealed had recently been issued two tickets for travelling in excess of 30 km/h.

Haider was taken back to Blacktown police station where during a search they uncovered a number of identity documents and an identity card with the name Mateen Haider.

When questioned about the license Haider admitted the license in the name of Umair Ahmad was fake and his true identity was Mateen Haider.

Further checks then revealed the Mt Druitt man’s actual license had been suspended for speeding in excess of 45km/h.

The police fact sheet said “it is clear Haider has no regard for public safety or the law”.

In Blacktown Local Court on Friday, Haider pleaded guilty of driving recklessly, furiously or at speed or manner dangerous, drive when visiting privileges withdrawn, knowingly produce false/misleading document under state law and exceed speed over 45km/h.

He was sentenced by Magistrate Brian van Zuylen to a two-year community corrections order, disqualified from driving for two years and fined $2400.
