Man randomly yells abuse then punches man in wheelchair

POLICE are investigating assault, armed robbery and reckless driving around Blacktown this week.

BLACKTOWN

A 41-year-old Doonside man has been charged after allegedly randomly yelling abuse at people walking along Patrick St, Blacktown, about 5pm. He then approached a 34-year-old Whalan man seated and allegedly swore at him. He then approached a second man who was seated in a wheelchair, a 50-year old from St Marys, who he also abused. After a brief alleged verbal altercation between the two, the 41 year old allegedly punched the man in the wheelchair to the face, causing his lip to bleed. Police were called and arrested the man. He was charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm and has appeared at Blacktown Local Court.

BLACKTOWN

A man was charged after allegedly driving while disqualified on Saturday afternoon. Blacktown Proactive Unit police were travelling along Balmoral St when they saw an 18-year-old Blacktown man driving a car northbound. Police attempted to pull the car over. The Blacktown man refused to stop and continued to travel through the intersection of Alpha St against a red light. The man allegedly continued driving the vehicle along the footpath and back on to Kildare Rd. Police then lost sight of the car. Police located the man walking along Carinya St, Blacktown, shortly after. The man was arrested and conveyed to Blacktown police station where he was charged with drive while disqualified, driving through traffic lights and driving recklessly. He was ordered to appear at Penrith Local Court.

GLENWOOD

A Glenwood man, 50, has been banned indefinitely from Bunnings in Victoria Ave, Castle Hill, after he allegedly stole up to five chrome taps from the hardware store. The man allegedly entered the store at noon and collected insulation products and six chrome taps. He then went to a service desk and paid for the insulation and one of the taps. As he attempted to leave the store he was stopped by a lost prevention officer, who called police. The man was issued a criminal infringement notice along with his banning notice.

QUAKERS HILL

A Kellyville man, 25, has been charged with driving with a mid-range prescribed concentration of alcohol in his blood after police pulled him over in Walker St on Sunday at 6.50pm. Police pulled the Holden rodeo over due to the manner of driving and breath tested the driver. He returned a positive result and was taken to Riverstone police station for a breath analysis which returned a reading of 0.099. His licence was suspended and he is due to appear at Blacktown Court.

QUAKERS HILL

An alleged armed robber, who tripped and fell during his getaway, stole about $400 of the night’s takings from a Quakers Hill bottle shop on July 30. A police report said at 8.50pm, a man walked into the Farnham Rd shop and allegedly threatened the male sales attendant with a 20-30cm, bladed knife. Police said the bottle shop attendant was threatened by the armed thief, who demanded cash. The man was given between $300 and $400 from the till before he ran out of the shop. The attendant chased the thief to Prescott Circuit, in Quakers Hill, where some men saw the shop attendant giving chase and joined the pursuit. The alleged thief fell over and upon getting back on his feet, threatened the men with his knife and threw some of the money back at them. The robber managed to escape with $200 worth of takings and was last seen running towards Quakers Hill Parkway. He was described as Indian/subcontinental in appearance, about 170-175cm tall, about 18-20 years old, with dark hair, and was wearing a black cap, black bandana and dark jacket. Police attended the scene and attempted to find the thief, but were unsuccessful.

BLACKTOWN

A father and son have been charged with alleged property offences in Blacktown after a report was made to the Police Assistance Line. About 6.30pm on July 26, a man contacted the Police Assistance Line to report the theft of tools and a mobile phone from his vehicle in Warrick Lane.

Blacktown police attended and spoke with the man. A short time later, officers saw a vehicle parked in Mantaka St and spoke to a man sitting inside. Officers arrested the man after allegedly locating the mobile phone and tools inside the car. A second man was also arrested when he allegedly returned to the vehicle with several items suspected of being stolen.

About 2.50am on 27 July, and shortly after being released from Blacktown Police Station, the 39 year old Quakers Hill man drove the green sedan along Main Street, Blacktown where he collided with a traffic light at the intersection of Newton Road. The vehicle sustained extensive damage however the man continued to drive along Flushcombe Rd and Main Street, against the flow of traffic. A witness informed Police and the man was arrested on

Kildare Road, Blacktown. He was further charged with Negligent Driving and Drive Whilst Disqualified. He was to appear at Blacktown Local Court last week.
