Man, 23, charged with ‘intent to murder’ over Tregear shooting

A 23-year-old man has been refused bail after allegedly shooting a man at a home in Tregear last week.

A Tregear man who allegedly shot a man during a violent home invasion last week has been refused bail.

Allan Leonard, 23, of Tregear, faced Mt Druitt Local Court today and was charged with shooting with intent to murder, aggravated robbery causing grievous bodily harm and aggravated breaking and entering.

Mr Leonard is accused of breaking into a home on Kista Dan Ave just after 11.30am on July 18, where he allegedly shot a 31-year-old man in the arm and stole his mobile phone.

Police allege Mr Leonard was in the company of a second man during the violent confrontation and fled the scene in a silver sedan.

The 31-year-old man was treated at the scene by paramedics before being taken to Westmead Hospital in a stable condition.

Mr Leonard was arrested at a home in Tregear at about 2pm yesterday.

He made no application for bail and he is expected to face court again on September 18.
