A woman is dead after a horror crash on a main road in Sydney’s west.

Emergency services were called to the scene on Palmyra Ave, Lethbridge Park, about midday on Wednesday to reports of a crash between a blue station wagon and a black sedan.

The driver of the station wagon, a woman in her 70s, died at the scene despite the best efforts of paramedics.

The driver of the sedan was treated at the scene before she was taken to Westmead Hospital for mandatory testing.

Police are now investigating the circumstances of the crash, with witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage urged to contact local police or crime stoppers on 1800 333 000.

A report will be prepared for the coroner.
