Kayla Dawson to fight Jason Galleghan murder charge
A woman charged with the murder of teenager Jason Galleghan in Doonside will fight the charge, a court has heard.

Three of the alleged killers of western Sydney 16-year old Jason Galleghan have appeared in court where the extensive brief of evidence was revealed.
Kayla Dawson, of Doonside, Harley Bartolo and Richard Sione have been charged with murder for their alleged involvement in the death of the teenager.
At Blacktown Local Court on Friday, Magistrate Brian van Zuylen noted the brief of evidence served on the trio was “incredibly extensive” and was more than 1500 pages long.
The crown prosecutor said the lengthy brief was not compliant and asked for an eight week extension.
Meanwhile outside court a group of about 10 people marched from Alpha Park, Blacktown to the court complex to demand justice.
None of the adults charged with the alleged murder of Jason Galleghan applied for bail.
The matter will return to Blacktown Local Court in April.
EARLIER: Doonside murder accused set to fight charge - December 2, 2021
A woman alleged to have murdered Jason Galleghan in a Doonside home intends to fight the charge, a court heard.
Kayla Dawson, 19, faced Blacktown Court on Thursday.
She is one of three adults charged with murder over the death of the 16-year boy in August.
Dawson’s lawyer Mary Faiz, appeared in court via AVL and advised the court that AVL facilities for Dawson were “not available”.
She has been in custody on remand since her arrest.
Faiz told the court she had received a brief of evidence which was “extensive” and that pleas of not guilty are maintained.
The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) asked for the matter to be relisted for mention on February 25.
She said it would allow time for forensic procedures to be obtained and analysed.
There are 11 co-accused on various charges, five of which are juveniles.
Meanwhile around 20 people gathered at Alpha Park, Blacktown before marching to Blacktown Court to stand outside the courthouse.
The matter is back before Blacktown Court on February 25, 2022.
