A Blue Mountains man exploded at a magistrate and police officer, calling them “pedophiles” and making threats in an angry tirade after his bail was denied.
Katoomba resident Paul Clark, 35, faced Parramatta Bail Court on Saturday for assault, carrying a knife in a public place and intimidation charges.
Court documents said Clark allegedly intimidated and assaulted a security guard at the Seven Hills shopping centre on November 28.
Police also allege Clark was carrying a sharp, red and silver coloured box cutter when he was arrrested and taken to Blacktown Police Station.
Clark has been hit with fives charges including common assault, use/possess or attempt/threaten to use an offensive weapon with intent to commit an indictable offence, carrying a cutting weapon, custody of a knife in a public place and stalk or intimidate intending to cause fear of physical or mental harm.
In court on Saturday, Clark refused legal aid and insisted on representing himself as he told the court didn’t trust the lawyers.
“If Legal Aid thinks I’m going to jail while they work with the police, I’m gonna represent myself,” he said.
During the bail hearing, Clark insisted he wasn’t a “danger to the community” due to being homeless and regularly volunteering.
Clark admitted to the court he did hit the security guard.
When Clark was denied bail by magistrate George Zdenkowski, he exploded in an angry tirade, calling both Mr Zdenkowski and the police prosecutor in attendance “pedophiles”.
“I see you police prosecutor, when I get out I’m coming for you, you pedophile dog!” Clark said.
Clark will face Blacktown Local Court on Monday December 2.
