A teen will appear before the courts in December after he was accused of crashing an unregistered trail motorbike into a stationary car while allegedly attempting to evade police.

Police will allege officers attached to South West Metro Operations Support Group were conducting routine patrols when they saw an unknown male wearing a balaclava and no helmet, while riding an unregistered Yamaha trail bike on the Hume Highway at Yagoona about 7.15pm on Thursday.

A short time later, police stopped alongside the Yamaha at the traffic lights at the intersection of the Hume Highway and Edgar Street, Yagoona.

When an officer exited his vehicle to speak with the rider, he allegedly attempted to flee the scene on the Yamaha, colliding with the constable before crashing into the rear of a stationary Toyota Corolla.

The rider allegedly fled, when police chased him on foot and a male senior constable were then struck by a Honda Civic travelling westbound on the Hume Highway.

The rider allegedly attempted to flee again but was arrested a short distance away.

He was taken to Bankstown Hospital for assessment but was not injured.

The 16-year-old was issued a field court attendance notice for negligent driving (no death or grievous bodily harm), never licensed person drive vehicle on road, use unregistered registrable Class A motor vehicle on road, use vehicle on road or road related area m/v tax not paid and motor bike rider (alone) not wear/secure fit approved helmet.

He will appear at a Children’s Court on Wednesday 15 December 2021.

The senior constable was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics for minor injuries, while the constable was uninjured.
