A father-of-four who touched a woman on the bottom after he followed her onto a western Sydney bus has told police he could not control his sexual desires.
Frederick ‘Fred’ Amituanai, 27, of Plumpton, faced Mt Druitt Local Court on Wednesday and pleaded guilty to sexually touching a 26-year-old woman on a bus in June.
Court papers revealed Amituanai had told police he struggled with an addiction to pornography and was driven by “lust” when he touched the woman from behind.
“I have a lust for her and touched her on her backside,” Amituanai told police.
During a brief court appearance, he made further confessions to the incident but appeared confused when asked by Magistrate Stephen Corry if he wished to plead guilty to the charge.
“I guess so?” he said.
The court appearance comes a little more than a week after police made an appeal to the public and released a CCTV image of Amituanai from Mt Druitt bus interchange.
Court papers revealed Amituanai had spent one hour walking between bus stands on the morning of June 4 when he followed the woman onto the bus and sat directly behind her, despite “numerous” other seats on the bus being empty.
Sometime during the bus ride between Mt Druitt and Plumpton, he reached his hand between the side of the bus and the edge of the woman’s seat and touched her behind for his own “sexual gratification”.
Thirty seconds later, the woman confronted him, and asked, “Excuse me, what was that?”
He apologised and the woman exited the bus shortly after and reported the incident to police.
He handed himself into police after he saw his photo posted by police on social media.
Police documents stated Amituanai was a “danger to the public when travelling by public transport”.
“The accused has also expressed his ongoing sexual desires and previous pornographic addictions which provide further safety concerns,” police said.
He will be sentenced at Mt Druitt Local Court next month.
