A former bikie and repeat fraudster “clearly has no care” for his victims, a court has been told after the western Sydney man was busted over an online fencing panel scam.

Vineyard resident Corey Agius, 28, faced Blacktown Local Court on Monday, when he pleaded guilty to four counts of dishonestly obtaining a financial advantage by deception.

Police facts tendered to the court state Agius “clearly has no care that he has affected the victims financially”, having swindled $4525 from three businesses and one individual across Marrickville, The Ponds, Brookvale and Auburn.

The former Finks bikie, previously convicted of a different fraud in 2016, was selling temporary fencing panels on Facebook Marketplace when the first of his latest victims came across his ad in March 2023.

The victim requested 10 to 12 temporary fencing panels and paid a $100 deposit at the request of Agius, who said he had them in stock.

The next day, Agius requested an additional $150, which the victim also paid, for a truck to deliver the goods.

By the time another day had passed without Agius delivering the panels, the victim realised it was a scam and demanded the money back.

Rather than return the money, Agius stopped communicating with the victim and instead repeated the scam three more times across Facebook Marketplace and Gumtree.

The other three victims, associated with Red Design PTY LTD, SMR Builders and Bhullar Steel, were scammed out of a combined $4275 between June and August 2023.

In three of the four scams, Agius communicated with the victims through his mobile number.

He was also tied to two of the frauds through his business, Agius Waterproofing Solutions, from which victims received invoices.

Agius was ultimately arrested at Riverstone Police Station on January 4 this year.

While he pleaded guilty to the frauds, he denied two other charges alleging he possessed suspected stolen goods and dealt with property that was the proceeds of crime.

Following a hearing on Monday, magistrate Debra Maher acquitted him of those charges.

However, Ms Maher told Agius the frauds he had admitted were “serious repeat offences”.

Agius is set to be sentenced on December 13.
