El Jannah to open at Plumpton, Tahmoor and relocates Blacktown restaurant
It’s a case of winner winner chicken dinner in western Sydney this weekend when the region’s most cherished charcoal chicken chain expands its footprint in its heartland.

Save your appetite for some charred chicken and a good dose of aioli on Saturday when El Jannah expands in its birthplace of western Sydney.
The business will debut at Plumpton Marketplace where the former Gloria Jean’s cafe stood near the entrance of the mall at Jersey and Hyatts roads.
Locals have been counting down to the opening of the 27-seat eatery since July when $1.2m plans were lodged with Blacktown Council.
The 256sq m eatery was originally slated to open in December but will have outdoor seating and open from 11am to 10pm each day and be the second El Jannah to fire up the charcoals in the Blacktown area.
The other shop at Flushcombe Rd in the Blacktown CBD, which opened in November 2013, is understood to be relocating across the road next to the Max Webber Library where, ironically, the Jenny Craig Weight Loss Centre once stood.
The Robin Hood pub has been given the green light to be constructed where the El Jannah and a cluster of shops along Flushcombe Rd stand.
Developer Simon Paterson lodged plans to Blacktown Council last year to rebuild the Robin Hood pub, which was levelled in the mid-’80s.
For those chicken lovers living between Campbelltown and the Southern Highlands, El Jannah is making its debut in Wollondilly at the end of March when it opens a Tahmoor eatery at Potters Drive.
The region’s first El Jannah, which is still under construction, will seat 40 diners over 266sq m and feature a drive-through along with the dine-in and takeaway.
El Jannah was founded at Granville and Punchbowl in 1998 before growing across the west and southwest.
It delighted Sydneysiders living north of the Sydney Harbour Bridge when it announced it would make its north shore debut at Crows Nest, likely to be at the end of March.
For footy fans, the eatery hits CommBank Stadium from March 9 for Parramatta’s first home game against the Bulldogs.
Tucking into some El Jannah at the footy was revealed in November after Venues NSW struck up a catering deal with Silverwater-based Gema Group.
