A former bikie who stacked his motorcycle when spotted by police after ripping a wheelie on a footpath has been sentenced for eight offences, including drug possession and driving while disqualified.
Court documents state father-of-two Corey Agius, 25, “begged” police officers to let him go as he didn’t want to return to jail when he was arrested for riding a red and white Honda motorcycle on a disqualified licence at Riverstone on May 22.
The court heard at the time of the incident he was serving a jail sentence in the community.
On Wednesday at Blacktown Local Court, the ex-Finks bikie got his wish when he was released on time served after spending two months and 21 days behind bars.
The police statement of facts reveal Agius was spotted by police riding a motorcycle without a helmet on the footpath of Railway Terrace, Riverstone.
When he saw police approach him, the 25-year-old fell off his motorcycle then unsuccessfully tried to kick start the engine.
Court documents state Agius begged police to let him go as he didn't want to go back to jail again.
A witness told police officers the Vineyard man had, at one stage, been ripping a wheelie on the footpath.
Agius pleaded guilty to five offences relating to the motorcycle incident, including driving while disqualified and not wearing a helmet. Guilty pleas were also entered to three drug possession charges from February 10 when he was found with 150g of cannabis and a vial each of testosterone enanthate and boldenone undecylenate (an androgen and anabolic steroid).
Agius’ lawyer Ms Barnes told the court the former bikie had a history of mental health problems and substance abuse and “clearly needs help”.
“He does not pose a threat to the community,” she said. “These are not violent charges.”
The court also heard the 25-year-old had an extensive criminal history, including offences of robbery and assault.
Agius was convicted of all offences and sentenced to a jail term of two months and 21 days, which expired on Wednesday. He was also disqualified from holding a driver’s licence for 12 months.
