Police say three staff were assaulted at about 1pm yesterday after a young female was seen smoking and trying to access the station via a wide access barrier.
A male staff member approached the teen and advised her she could not smoke in the area when she spat on the man while claiming she had COVID-19.
She proceeded to walk through the ticket barrier when a young man ran to the scene and coughed and spat in the staff member’s face before punching him in the back of the head and neck several times.
A female staff member intervened and was also punched in the head. A third staff member sustained a small cut to her thumb and an injury to her back when she tried to assist.
The teens ran from the train station towards Main St and were last seen running down David Ln.
Police are hoping to speak to the pair and are urging anyone with information to contact police.
