A Bidwill mother charged over the alleged overdoses of her young children will fight the charges in court.
The 26-year-old woman, who cannot be named for legal reasons, faced Mt Druitt Local Court today pleading not guilty to one count of abandoning/exposing a child under seven causing danger of death and another of neglecting a young person in her care.
Police allege her two daughters, aged one and three, overdosed after ingesting prescription medication at a home in Bidwill on August 8.
The girls were allegedly found unconscious and were rushed via ambulance to the Sydney Children’s Hospital at Randwick in a serious condition.
Following a police investigation, she was charged at Mt Druitt Police Station on September 6.
During her brief court appearance today, she remained silent as her solicitor advised she would be fighting the charges.
Police documents list a third child as an alleged victim of neglect, however, it is not known if the allegation is linked to the suspected overdoses.
Family and Community Services are reviewing a child-at-risk report prepared by NSW Police.
The matter will return to court on January 15, 2020.
