After putting out a call for nominations for Blacktown and Mt Druitt’s best hairdresser and counting the votes, the votes can be revealed.
Blacktown Advocate readers had from Thursday to Sunday to vote for the best hairdresser in the region.
After votes were cast, the winner is Danielle Farrugia of The Scissor Bar in Rooty Hill.
Danielle has worked in the industry for almost a decade and took an exciting step in her hairdressing career three years ago when she opened her own salon for the first time.
“I’ve always wanted to do hairdressing,” Danielle said.
“I did work experience through school and once I finished school, I went out everywhere and dropped my resume and I came to the salon here and they put me on.”
Completing her apprenticeship at the Rooty Hill salon, little did she realise, in a few years’ time, she would be calling it her own.
She said a passion for hair and giving customers a personal experience was the secret to her success.
“I always aim to come across as a professional,” Danielle said.
“In my work, I go from teenagers to 80-year-olds, so having that conversation and offering them tea or coffee while they’re waiting is really important.
“There’s so much more than just being a good hairdresser.”
She said it was always rewarding when to see customers get a personal boost from their hair makeover.
“I love when customers walk out and they’re just so happy with their hair,” she said.
“I just love the smile it gives them and how good it makes them feel.
“You’re working with their appearance, and their hair is a big part of that, so when they walk out happy, it makes you proud to say, ‘Yeah, I did that’.”
Danielle thanked her supporters for their votes.
