The driver who allegedly ran a red light and struck a pedestrian as she crossed the road in Sydney’s north west has faced court for the first time.

A driver will fight allegations she ran a red light and was driving dangerously when she hit a pedestrian in Sydney’s north west last month.
Benazir Mohamed Salim, 36, of Lalor Park, is facing a string of charges after she struck a woman who was crossing the road in Kellyville Ridge.
Police allege Mohamed Salim was driving through the intersection of Windsor and Merriville roads when she hit the 27-year-old with her Toyota Camry at about 9am on May 19.
The woman was treated for serious head injuries and was taken to Westmead Hospital.
Mohamed Salim faced Blacktown Local Court on Monday, pleading not guilty to dangerous driving and negligent driving occasioning grievous bodily harm, proceeding through red light, not stopping at a traffic light stop line, causing bodily harm by misconduct and negligent driving (not occasion death or grievous bodily harm).
Police allege Mohamed Salim ran a red light when the young woman was struck at the intersection.
Mohamed Salim was tested by officers for alcohol and drugs at the scene and returned a negative result, police said.
She will return to court again next month.
