A man charged after allegedly committing sexual acts near a bus stop and a playground in western Sydney has been denied bail for the second time.

Amanpreet Singh, 28, was refused bail again when he faced Blacktown Local on Thursday, charged with four counts of carrying out a sexual act with another without consent.

In a statement from NSW Police, Singh is alleged to have performed sexual acts in a car three times in public areas late November last year.

One of these incidents is alleged to have occurred while following two women in Lalor Park.

Police will also allege Singh performed sexual acts while in bushes near a playground in Blacktown.

Singh has previously pleaded not guilty to the charges.

In court on Thursday, Singh’s lawyer had said the international student from India has had “a long time to reflect on his actions” while in custody.

However, the police prosecutor opposed bail stating Singh posed an “unacceptable risk” of failing to appear in court due to the serious nature of the charges.

“The defendant if convicted of these sentences faces a long custodial sentence,” the prosecutor said.

“It’s a series of offending, it’s not just one complainant. It’s several complainants.”

Magistrate Bree Chisholm agreed that the serious nature of the charges raised the issue of community safety.

“The nature of the charges relate to serious conduct of a sexual nature towards women and children in this community public safety looms large as a concern,” she said.

“Given the serious nature of these charges and the inevitable term of imprisonment should you be convicted, the risk of non appearance is high, especially given you’re on a (visa).”

Singh, who is in Australia on a visa, is alleged to have committed the offences not long after arriving in the country.

Singh will return to court on May 15 for his hearing.
