- $68m affordable housing precinct planned for Mt Druitt
- Top-shop unit development poised for Lancaster St fruit market site
Plans proposing the construction of a three-storey medical and radiology centre near Blacktown Hospital have been submitted to Blacktown Council.
The $9.5 million development application was submitted for 13-15 Panorama Pde last month and is currently being assessed by the council.
The plans would involve the demolition of two dwellings to make way for a private health services facility with basement parking for up to 69 vehicles.
Documents submitted to the council show the centre would have radiology services on the ground floor, with medical consulting suites on the first and second floors.
The centre would be situated at the intersection of Panorama Pde and Craiglea St, only a 600-metre walk to Blacktown Hospital.
It has been proposed that the centre operate seven days a week, from 7am to 10pm Monday to Friday and 8am to 5pm on weekends.
The proposal comes while stage two of the NSW Government’s expansion of Blacktown Hospital is underway.
Stage two will involve the construction of a new acute services building, with an expanded emergency department, psychiatric emergency care centre, an expanded ICU, eight new digital operating theatres, new maternity/women’s health facilities and paediatric services.
Stage 1 of the redevelopment was completed in 2016 and included a new comprehensive cancer centre and 170 additional acute beds, including chemotherapy chairs, a new in-centre renal dialysis unit and expanded medical imaging, pharmacy, pathology and central sterilisation services.
Blacktown Hospital’s new multi-storey car park was completed in February.
