Alleged Belmore kidnappers to face trial after accused of kidnapping Peter Vuong

A trial date for four men who allegedly used sledgehammers and pliers to rip out three teeth from a man they held to ransom for more than a week in Sydney’s southwest has been set.

A trial for four men who allegedly used sledgehammers and pliers to rip out three teeth from a man they held to ransom for more than a week in Sydney’s southwest will be held next year.

Kiteau Tatafu, Sunia Tu Ineau Junior Siasau, Viliami Siasau and Esau Namoa were charged after allegedly kidnapping Peter Vuong from a home at Brenan St in Smithfield on March 9, 2023.

Mr Vuong was allegedly held hostage for six days at a house at Canterbury Rd, Belmore, where his captors demanded $5m in cash and large amounts of drugs before police rescued the then 26 year old.

The defendants appeared via video link from custody at Parramatta District Court on Friday, 16 months after shocking allegations first emerged in court.

Judge Siobhan Herbert listed the matter for trial on October 13, 2025.

All men pleaded not guilty to kidnapping offences.

Sunia Tu Ineau Junior Siasau pleaded not guilty toaggravated break and enter and committing a serious indictable offence-weapon, take/detain in company with intent to ransom occasion actual bodily harm, cause grievous bodily harm to person with intent,possessing an unauthorised pistol and possessing ammunition without holding a licence.

Viliami Siasau pleaded not guilty to take/detain in company with intent to ransom occasion actual bodily harm, cause grievous bodily harm to person with intent, aggravated break and enter and committing a serious indictable offence-weapon.

Esau Namoa entered not-guilty pleas to take/detain in company with intent to ransom occasion actual bodily harm

Kiteau Tatafu is also fighting charges after he pleaded not guilty to aggravated break and enter and committing a serious indictable offence-weapon, take/detain in company with intent to ransom occasion actual bodily harm, cause grievous bodily harm to person with intent and possessing an unauthorised pistol.

Valali Tonga will be sentenced on October 10 after pleading guilty in May to break and enter commit serious indictable offence-weapon, take/detain in company with intent to ransom occasion actual bodily harm and possessing an unauthorised pistol.

Charges were withdrawn against John Totau Fahamokioa in October.
