China has retaliated to the US once again and slapped a 125 per cent tariff on all American goods.

That’s still less than the US’ import taxes on China which is now officially at 145 per cent due to its 125 per cent tariff coming on top of an earlier 20 per cent tariff.

At this point the numbers are so mind bogglingly high that Beijing’s commerce ministry has said they have no “practical significance in economics”.

“It will become a joke,” it said.

Which is perhaps why Beijing has made something of a surprising move. It’s said it’s done retaliating and even if Washington DC announces a higher tariff, it won’t match it.
