Once inseparable from her cousin Prince Harry, Princess Beatrice is proving where her loyalties lie, representing the family in the Royal Box at Wimbledon with hopes Princess Catherine also attend the tennis tournament.
Beatrice, 35, and her husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, 40, made a splash at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club chatting comfortably with celebrities seated nearby.
The Princess watched the mens’ quarter-finals match between Jannik Sinner and Daniil Medvedev on Tuesday (local time).
Beatrice, who glowed in a floral dress, was pictured sharing a laugh with actor Stephen Fry.
Meanwhile fellow actor Sienna Miller, 42, and her boyfriend Oli Green, 27, were seated nearby.
Beatrice, the daughter of Andrew, Duke of York, and Sarah “Fergie” Ferguson, has made an increasing number of appearances in her capacity as a royal in recent months in a show of support for her uncle King Charles and cousin Prince Williams’s wife Catherine who both continue to battle cancer.
In late May she attended a garden party hosted by Prince William and helped entertain guests from various royal patronages.
Last month she attended at least two of the five days of Royal Ascot – a favourite event of her horse racing fan grandmother, the late Queen Elizabeth.
Beatrice and her sister Princess Eugenie were once close to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle – even after the dramatic departure of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex from the royal family.
Photos of Eugenie visiting the Sussexes in California appeared in the couple’s explosive Netflix documentary and she also attended the Superbowl with Harry in 2022.
During Harry’s flying appearance at his father’s coronation last year he was pictured seated with and sharing a laugh with both Beatrice and Eugenie.
However a source told The Express this week that Beatrice and Eugenie’s closeness with the Sussexes was fading.
“They haven’t communicated with the Sussexes for quite a while now,” the said.
“They are nowhere near as close as they once were.”
Princess Catherine, a huge tennis fan, took over the patronage of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club from the late Queen in 2016.
She has attended Wimbledon for many years – including in a private capacity prior to her marriage into the royal family.
It is hoped she will attend on the weekend and fulfil her traditional duty of presenting the singles champions with their trophies.
The palace has neither ruled out nor confirmed Catherine’s attendance while Wimbledon officials have declared they are giving the Princess “as much flexibility as possible”.
