King Frederik didn’t appear to mind one bit when his beautiful wife Queen Mary stole the show after donning a traditional Greenlandic national costume.
The Danish royals are touring the sprawling island which is in fact an autonomous territory of the comparatively diminutive Denmark.
The happy couple posed for a photograph for their Instagram account which they posted along with a caption exclaiming over the glorious “Greenlandic summer” weather.
In the post which accompanied the misty snap, the king and queen also revealed it is the first time either of them have had the honour of wearing the traditional garb.
Royal watchers immediately flooded the comment section with praise of our Tasmanian born royal.
“No matter what she wears, Queen Mary dazzles. I love them,” one wrote.
“A King and a Queen that are not ashamed of wearing traditional clothes. Absolutely gorgeous,” added another.
The royals looked warm, rugged up and a little loved up during their visit to Greenland over the weekend.
Mary, 52, and Frederik, 56, appeared in a good mood on the trip which included inspecting a whale microphone at Qeqertarsuaq in Greenland.
Also on the trip were Mary and Frederik’s youngest children, twins Princess Josephine, and Prince Vincent, both 13.
Mary looked perfect for the environment in winter weight clothing, accessorising with a taupe beanie and scarf, which she alternated with a burgundy coloured beanie.
She held Frederik’s hand while exploring Greenland’s rugged landscape, according to the Daily Mail.
King Frederik was also dressed for the colder climate with a slate blue puffer jacket and hiking shoes.
The couple looked relaxed and happy, despite rumours of marital problems since the King was spotted in Madrid with Mexican socialite Genoveva Casanova last year, and Frederik alluded to challenges within the marriage relationship in his memoir.
During the Greenland trip, Queen Mary played football with local children and was seen hugging a local little girl.
Prince Christian, who recently graduated from his studies, did not attend.
The entire family attended the Crown Prince’s graduation in a show of unity after a year which also saw Queen Margrethe’s shock abdication from the Danish throne.
