Mamading sex-for-drinks craze not the worst example of what goes on in Majorca’s sleazy night clubs

IT TURNS out that the “mamading” sex-for-drinks craze is not the worst example of what goes on in Majorca’s cheap and sleazy night spots.

THE world has reacted with disgust over footage of a woman performing sex acts on 23 men for a cheap drink in a club in Magaluf, on the Spanish island of Majorca.

But it turns out that this is not the worst example of what goes on in these cheap and sleazy night spots.

The video, which spread around the world online overnight, shows the game of mamading, a corruption of the Spanish word “mamada”, which means “sex act”.

The footage shows a young blonde, British woman service more than 20 men on the dancefloor to the strains of LMFAO’s Sexy and I Know It. In exchange, she was rewarded with a bottle of Cava, which is worth no more than about $4.

This same culture of debauchery led to the gang rape of a teenager on stage in front of hundreds of drunk onlookers about three years ago.

Barmaid Lauren Walsh told UK tabloid The Mirror last year that a group of men attacked her during a wild foam party in Magaluf when she was 17.

She was on her first holiday without her parents when she was targeted by a group of British men, stripped naked and raped while hundreds of revellers looked on.

The music was too loud for other partygoers to recognise that she was being assaulted.

The woman shared her story with paper in the hope that it would be a warning to other people travelling to that part of the world.

“I heard the DJ make some joke about girls being welcome up on stage but only if they took their clothes off,” she told The Mirror.

“As I was standing near the stage steps looking for my friends, five or six guys dragged me up and towards the back.

“I was screaming and trying to get away, grabbing on to a rail at the front of the stage, hoping someone would see me, but they kept pulling me back.”

The woman said her horrific ordeal was part of a disturbing culture at Magaluf.

“The problem is that these places are embedded with a culture of sex, drink and drugs,” she said.

Magaluf is party central for young Britons every summer. The resort, on Majorca’s southwest coast, is known for the antics of young, drunk and rowdy holiday-makers, so much so that the destination has earnt the nickname of “Shagaluf”.

A number of bars in Majorca are said to be encouraging young women to perform sex acts in return for prizes.

The local mayor, Manuel Onieva, has ordered a police investigation into mamading bars.

He told the Mallorcan Daily he “completely rejects” the activities and has warned the bars face closure if they are found to have broken the law.
