Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s highly anticipated Netflix docuseries will hit the streaming platform in the US on December 8, according to Page Six.
This would mean the series would premiere in Australia on Friday, December 9.
The series, which will showcase the Sussexes’ “love story,” was once called “Chapters,” sources said, but it is believed the couple changed their mind.
The pair dropped original director Garrett Bradley and brought in Liz Garbus, director of The Handmaids’s Tale, instead, Pages Six reported.
FALLON INTERVIEW CONFUSION
It come as confusion reigns over Markle’s highly anticipated interview with US chat show host Jimmy Fallon.
Reports emerged in the British media on Tuesday that the Duchess of Sussex would sit down with Fallon at New York’s NBC studios for a rescheduled tell-all interview on December 7.
Markle’s Fallon interview was originally due to take place in September but was cancelled following the death of the Queen.
It was reported that Markle would open up about her recent work as well as talk about her forthcoming controversial Netflix docu-series with husband Prince Harry in an interview with Fallon on December 7.
Earlier on Tuesday, the link to the broadcasting giant’s streaming platform was headlined “How to watch Meghan Markle on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on December 7”.
Markle and Prince Harry will be in New York, where Fallon’s chat show is filmed at 30 Rockefeller Plaza, on December 6 to receive the Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights’ Ripple of Hope award.
However, in a bizarre turn of events hours later, Markle’s ally Omid Scobie tweeted that there had been an error and that the Duchess would not be appearing on Fallon’s program.
The royal reporter tweeted: “Looks like someone at NBC didn’t get the memo. Despite an announcement via their various PR channels, Meghan isn’t scheduled to appear on The Tonight Show.”
Critics of Markle were quick to jump on Scobie’s tweet.
“That’s very odd indeed,” one posted. “Major miscommunication. Is that like those announcements where Meghan and Harry broadcast their upcoming attendance at an event in the hope of being invited? Like the balcony at Buckingham Palace? Or the Oscars?”
An NBC representative told News Corp Australia reports of Markle’s appearance on Jimmy Fallon’s show were inaccurate.
“Earlier today, it was inaccurately reported that Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex would be appearing on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on December 7,” a representative from NBC said in a statement.
Fallon is known for his comedic interviewing style and often likes to get his A-lister guests involved in skits.
His famed interviewing technique is to find common ground with his star guests, allowing them to shine and engage in banter, Forbes magazine reports.
It comes after Markle and Prince Harry shared a personal message related to Princess Diana with Sir Elton John ahead of his farewell concert at the Dodgers Stadium.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were featured in a video, which appeared to be filmed at the couple’s Archewell offices, showing stars paying tribute to the music superstar ahead of the gig.
Prince Harry said: “Thank you for being the friend that you were to my mum. Thank you for being our friend, thank you for being a friend to our kids.”
Markle and Prince Harry have grown close with the singer in recent years, with Sir Elton famously lending the eco warriors his French Riviera home and private jet in 2019.
It was outranked by a soothing sounds podcast to help parents put their babies to bed.
EX-THATCHER AIDE CALLS FOR TITLES TO BE STRIPPED
A former aide to Margaret Thatcher has called for King Charles to remove Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s royal titles “swiftly and decisively”.
Nile Gardiner, a foreign policy analyst and author, also claimed that giving the Sussexes the prestigious Robert F. Kennedy Ripple of Hope Award was an “insult” to the monarchy.
Mr Gardiner described the award as “a disgraceful attack” on the royal family.
John F. Kennedy’s niece, Kerry Kennedy, who will host the awards, said the Sussexes took a brave stance against the royals.
Ms Kennedy said: “They went to the oldest institution in UK history and told them what they were doing wrong, that they couldn’t have structural racism within the institution; that they could not maintain a misunderstanding about mental health.
“Few would have the courage to question their colleagues, family and community about the power structure they maintained, and this is what Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have done.”
Markle and Prince Harry stunned the world when they told Oprah Winfrey in their bombshell chat that they had experienced racism within the royal family.
Meanwhile, Markle’s Archetypes podcast has plummeted in popularity with US listeners according to Spotify’s charts, with the latest episode outperformed by a collection of lullabies.
The Duchess of Sussex’s podcast, which sees her interview her A-lister friends and academics about feminist issues, was part of a $32 million deals and was once the platform’s top show.
But the latest episode, which saw Markle interview British actress Jameela Jamil, was positioned at just 77 in the US charts on Tuesday.
