When Victoria will reach 90 per cent fully vaccinated target

The next major vaccine milestones have been set, with Victoria racing to achieve Covid normal. But these new targets come with a catch.

'We're so, so close' to vaccine targets: Andrews

Two new vaccine milestones have been set which will lead to a Covid-normal way of life.

Premier Daniel Andrews said the state would reach its next major target on Friday, when 80 per cent of the eligible population is expected to be fully vaccinated.

The next target, triggering Covid-normal, is expected by November 24.

Unlike previous vax milestones, the next significant easing of restrictions would only kick in when both eligible vaccine cohorts — 12 to 15-year-olds and over 16s — are double-jabbed.

Victoria’s lockdown finally ended and major restrictions were eased when over 16s hit the 70 and 80 per cent thresholds.

National vaccine data, which takes in the number of Covid jabs at state-run and commonwealth clinics, reveals Victoria’s total eligible vaccine population has already reached its 70 per cent double-jab target.

It needs 342,106 more doses to reach 80 per cent fully vaccinated and 913,725 to reach 90 per cent.

Remarkably, the state is set to reach its 90 per cent target of over 16s fully vaccinated by either November 17 or 18, according to Covid-19 Data.

But adding in the younger 12-plus age group pushes predictions out to November 23.
