Police uncover $75k of cocaine in Bruce Highway bust at Alligator Creek

$75,000 worth of Cocaine found, arrests made

Queensland Police have released footage capturing the moment Townsville officers uncovered a large stash of cocaine during a roadside interception at Alligator Creek on Monday.

A statement released by QPS on Friday revealed that Townsville’s Major and Organised Crime Squad (MOCS) had seized 240 grams of cocaine, valued at more than $75,000, after a vehicle was pulled over on the Bruce Highway at about 5.20pm.

“A search warrant was then executed at an address in Burdell where more than 10 grams of cocaine was also located along with a small amount of ketamine and steroids,” QPS said.

“A 27-year-old Burdell man was charged with four counts of possessing dangerous drugs, three counts of possessing anything used in the commission of crime and one count each of supplying dangerous drugs and unlawful possession of weapons.

“He was refused bail and is due to reappear in Townsville Magistrates Court on June 28.”

A 25-year-old Burdell woman was also charged with five counts of possessing dangerous drugs, two counts of possessing anything used in the commission of crime and one count each of supplying dangerous drugs, unlawful possession of weapons and possessing utensils.

If anyone has any information in relation to the use, supply or trafficking of illicit drugs in the community, police urge them to report the matter to Police via Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

It does not matter how small or insignificant you believe the information to be, that information may be the piece of the puzzle police need to identify and dismantle drug offending.

Police encourage anyone in our community who is suffering from drug dependence to seek support from Queensland Health’s Alcohol and Drug Information Service.
