Flinders accident: Motorcyclist suffers serious injury in highway crash

A lane of the Flinders Highway east of Mount Isa has been opened to traffic after a serious accident left a motorcyclist with serious injuries.

Queensland Police Service said the highway had been closed following the single-vehicle accident on the highway at Maxwelton at 4.05pm on Thursday.

The QPS spokesperson said a lane had opened just before 6pm.

Queensland Fire Department and Queensland Ambulance Service were also in attendance.

A QAS spokeswoman said at 6pm that a man in his 40s had suffered “significant injuries” to his leg and shoulder.

She said that despite the severity of the injuries, he was listed in a stable condition.

The spokeswoman said the man was being transported by road to Julia Creek Hospital but air crews had been tasked to transfer him, probably to Townsville.

Three injured after car barrels through fence

2pm Thursday, October 3: Three people were injured after a two-vehicle accident sent a car careening through the fence of a residential property and into a tree in Townsville.

Queensland Ambulance Service confirmed that three patients from the vehicle were transported to Townsville University Hospital following the accident on Gollogly Lane, Condon, at 12.42pm on Thursday.

A QAS spokesman said a female had suffered cuts, while two males had suffered leg and shoulder injuries respectively.

They were listed as being in stable conditions, he said.

The age of the victims was unknown.

Queensland Police Service said two vehicles were involved in the accident, which sent one of the vehicle through the fence of a private home.

A QPS spokeswoman said one lane of the road was opened to traffic at 1.10pm but the second remains closed.
