The Cure Starts Now held its fundraising Gala Dinner at The Ville Resort-Casino, with a record amount of money raised to fund research and trials for childhood brain cancer.
The Harcourts Kingsberry Gala Dinner included a live auction and luxury mega raffles with prizes generously donated by local businesses. A handcrafted ring designed by Jewellery By Design was the events biggest fundraising coup.
“One person who had purchased a ticket for the ring had told me prior if her name was drawn she wanted to donate it back to the cause in honour of little Annabelle who is fighting brain cancer,” The Cure Starts Now CEO Eleni Millios-Hullick said.
“Of all the names and some people bought 10 tickets, the wonderful Sandy Corbett’s was drawn out. It was very emotional. We added it to the live auctions later in the night and the ring sold for an eye watering $31,000 making the total raised for the ring $46,000.”
The Griggs family bought the ring generously donating the money to the CURE.
Eleni said the generosity and kindness of the people in the community never ceased to astound her. All funds raised from the Gala dinner went directly to research and trials to find the cure for childhood brain cancer.
