Baby Nova-Lee loses her battle after heart surgery

NOVA-LEE Gibson stole the love of her mum and dad, and older siblings when she was born at 30 weeks with a hole in her tiny little heart and problems with her valves, now she is being remembered as an angel above.
Nova-Lee’s mum Jodie Gibson told the Bulletin her baby “grew her wings” on December 19.
Mrs Gibson shared her family’s devastation on social media.
“We had 16 glorious days full of love,” she said.
“Forever loved. Forever wanted. Forever missed. Forever remembered.”
“Nova-Lee Anne Gibson we love you and miss you for eternity.”
Mrs Gibson and her newborn were rushed to Brisbane to undergo surgery on baby Nova-Lee in order to give her the best possible chance at life but when the prognosis wasn’t good, the family returned to Townsville to create lasting memories as a family.
Mrs Gibson revealed the tender moments they will now cherish forever.
“She was no longer struggling, she was at peace,” she said.
“She was loved unconditionally by our family, by her siblings and mostly by mum and dad.
“We had some last cuddles with her, admired her stunning features and kissed her head without a pipe in the way.”
Overwhelmed by grief, the family held on to their last moments with Nova-Lee.
“Nova got a her first and only bath, in my milk that I produced for her,” she said.
“We dressed her in a beautiful angel gown and she had photos with our wedding rings in her hands. “We then bundled her back up in her bed and took her back to her room with her bow on her head looking like the princess she is.”
Wrapped in the loving arms of her big sister and brother, photos taken after Nova-Lee’s passing have been edited to include Santa to remember the Christmas she fought so hard to make it to. Mrs Gibson also revealed the heartbreaking journey her family went through.
“Learning that Nova-Lee would be a heart kid broke us but we hoped things were going to be OK, but things weren’t,” she said.
“This is Nova-Lee’s story and she told us all about it. And we’ll continue to tell her story.” A GoFundMe Page has been set up for the Gibson family who have been struggling financially.
