For visitors to Townsville looking to grab a unique souvenir on the way home, a vendor stall at the airport is allowing for travellers to take home a piece of homemade art made by a local artist.
Brenda Stone, a resin artist and abstract painter, has partnered with the Townsville Store at the airport to sell her earrings, ornaments and art and said the response has been amazing.
The Taste of Townsville stall at the shop features many different products from local makers including candles, beef jerky, art and local tea.
Ms Stone said she is grateful to be a part of the new additions at Townsville Airport, having previously created a 150 square metre ocean-scape mural at the airport terminal.
“Ever since I was commissioned to do a mural at the airport, they said they would love to get my products into their store,” she said.
“I’ve had such a great response, and people are really loving my tropical, ocean-inspired pieces from earrings to homewares and taking them with them back home.”
Ms Stone said it was a great opportunity to showcase Townsville makers and artists to those coming to or leaving the region.
“Everything I have curated for the airport has been smaller grab-and-go items that people can pop in their bag to gift someone back home or as a treat for themselves.”
