A man will face court after a woman was stabbed and was rushed to hospital with wounds to her head on Tuesday morning.

Police and emergency services were called to Commercial Rd at Salisbury just before 6am on June 10 after reports that a person had been stabbed.

Police and paramedics located the victim, a 42-year-old woman from Ovingham with a wound to her head.

She was taken to hospital in a serious but non-life-threatening condition.

The suspect, who police say was known to the victim, left the scene before patrols arrived after stealing the victim’s car.

Police then went to a home on McIntyre Rd, Salisbury East and located the suspect who was arrested without incident.

The victim’s car was also recovered from the address.

A 26-year-old man from Parafield Gardens was charged with aggravated cause harm, assault, theft and illegal use of a motor vehicle.

He was refused police bail and will appear in the Elizabeth Magistrates court later on Tuesday.
