Man, 21, arrested and charged with alleged child sexual offences, worked at mid-north high school
Police have arrested and charged a man who worked as an external contractor at a high school in the state’s mid-north school with serious child sexual offences.

A 21-year-old man who worked as an external contractor at a high school in the state’s mid-north has been arrested and charged with serious child sexual offences.
The man from the Far North of the state, was arrested in a joint investigation by Port Augusta and Port Pirie detectives last month.
He was charged with making a child amenable for sexual activity, inciting an indecent act by a child, black mail, and threats.
Police said the man worked at the Port Augusta Secondary School as an external contractor, and that SAPOL was working with the Education Department on the matter.
The Education Department told The Advertiser that the matter did not involve any students at the school, and that families had been informed of the allegations.
“In keeping with the protocols laid out in the Debelle Report, the Department for Education has a policy around informing the school community at the appropriate time whenever allegations of sexual misconduct are made against any person who has worked in any capacity at a school,” a spokesperson said.
“A letter was sent to families at Port Augusta Secondary School to advise them that a contractor who had worked at the site had been arrested and charged with child sexual offences.
“Parents at Port Augusta Secondary School have been advised the matter does not involve any students at the school.”
The man was refused bail and appeared in the Port Pirie Magistrates Court on May 28, where he was remanded in custody to appear in October.
