King Kyle Chalmers claims his queen as the South Australian pool star announces engagement to Norwegian swimmer Ingeborg Loyning

The South Australian Olympic swimming star has announced his engagement on social media to a hoard of congratulations. Take a look at the bling.

King Kyle Chalmers is making girlfriend Ingeborg Loyning his Queen of Hearts.

South Australian superfish Chalmers took to Instagram on Thursday night to post pictures of himself with the Norwegian swimmer, who was sporting a stylish ring.

In one shot, Loyning holds out her hand to the camera to show off the floral design.

Chalmers did not explicitly state they were engaged, simply posting a date – 19.6.24 – and an infinity symbol often used to symbolise forever love.

The post, which had thousands of likes within 10 minutes, tagged Class A Jewellers in Walkerville.

Loyning confirmed last December she had been dating Olympic champion Chalmers for about a year.

She confirmed she had moved to Adelaide to train in the same squad as Chalmers and prepare for the Paris Olympics.

“That is not the whole reason, but one of the reasons why I went down to train in Australia,” she said.

Chalmers has qualified for the 100m freestyle in Paris but faces stiff competition for medals.

Chalmers’ love life has consistently featured in the spotlight, including time dating Australian swim queen Emma McKeon.

There were claims of unrest in the Australian swim team when it emerged McKeon was dating popstar turned swimmer Cody Simpson. Chalmers and Simpson denied any rift over the love triangle.

Chalmers has also dated fellow South Australian swimmer Madi Wilson.

South African Olympic-bound swimmer Matthew Sates congratulaed Chalmers and Loyning on social media, saying “kudos to you both for this remarkable achievement”.

Melbourne AFL star Clayton Oliver was also among the wellwishers.

Fellow Olympic swimmers such as Elijah Winnington, and musician Scott Darlow all commented their congratulations.

Athlete Sam Short said: “I would say simp, but this is awesome. Congrats man.”

Triple Olympic champion Adam Peaty said “congratulations both”.

Olympic-bound swimmer Matthew Sates said “kudos to you both for this remarkable achievement.”

The Paris Olympics begin from Friday, July 26.
