Adelaide’s Amy Mae is one of OnlyFans’ top creators raking in one million dollars a year and reaching audiences from around the world.
The former medical student ditched her studies and casual retail job to focus her time on producing adult content for the subscription site.
“My OnlyFans has definitely blown up and sustained itself,” she said.
“My income has doubled … it’s around about 80 to 100k a month on average, so just over a million dollars a year.”
Amy Mae is one of the top 0.09 per cent of creators worldwide.
“I feel like I’ve put so much effort into all my content and marketing,” she said.
“I really love what I do, I find it really fun and enjoyable so I’m glad that everyone else loves that I do it too.”
While Amy had plans to return to studying the 21-year-old has decided to pursue OnlyFans full-time until she decides to have children.
“I want to do OnlyFans for as long as I can but I want to have kids one day so that’s when I’ll stop,” she said.
“I want to start my own business and travel and do all these other things but right now (OnlyFans) is what I want to do full-time and I’ll probably ride it for as long as I can because I feel like I’m really good at it.”
In the first 48 hours of her account Amy earnt more than she ever did at her retail job in a month.
She catapulted straight to the site’s top 0.5 per cent of creators.
But Amy said she’s gone from strength to strength after finding what makes her account different.
At first Amy was posting exclusively explicit content but after blowing up on Instagram, where she tells sex-related stories, she discovered showing her personality was impressive and inspirational.
“I started being myself way more in my videos and to my fans,” she said.
Now she sends voice messages to fans, does live shows and films herself telling stories naked.
“I’ve had a way more loyal fan base which has made it easier to hold a stable income and keep growing,” she said.
Amy now doesn’t edit parts where she makes mistakes or something doesn’t go to plan.
“It’s just more real and raw,” she said.
Despite earning a million dollars a year, Amy said she doesn’t feel like her life has changed at all.
“I’m still talking to my accountant and financial advisers so I haven’t actually done anything with the money because I don’t know what I’m doing, as stupid as it sounds,” she said.
Right now the young woman is looking at buying her first house – outright.
“I never ever thought that I would look at buying my first house at 21 and I never thought that I would own multiple houses in my life and it’s a possibility now,” she said.
Amy said people try to make her feel ashamed for her decision to produce adult content online.
“The people who have problems with it and think it’s disgusting and that I’ve made this horrible decision for my life, just haven’t gotten to know my perspective or know how I feel about things,” she said.
“It used to get to me so much and now I just think I’m doing it for myself and I’m not doing it for anyone else – so it just matters that I’m okay with it and I’m happy doing it.”
